Hobbies. The things we would do for a living if the real world didn't constantly get in the way.
Surveys will tell you that left handed people are generally more scientific and analytical, while right handed people are more creative and free thinking. I pretty much got the poop-end of the stick with that deal. I'm ambidextrous. Stuck in center field, with both sides of my warped little brain locked in a endless mental tug-of-war. If it weren't for my hobbies, I'd have gone completely insane long ago.
My Hobbies tend to involve both sides of my brain. I enjoy creating things, but more than that, I enjoy creating FUNCTIONING things. As a kid, I used to build models. Planes, boats, cars, etc. I always wound up trying to fit batteries and motors and solar cells on them or in them in an attempt to make them work. Sometimes it worked, most of the time it didn't. I didn't get frustrated with failure, I learned from it. Each new monstrosity was another lesson learned.
Recently, I saw a documentary on medieval siege engines, and both sides of my brain perked up. The right side was screaming "Scale model!" and the left side was screaming "Working model!". I called a truce, and built a couple of working scale model siege engines.
The first was a trebuchet. You can see pics of it here.
The Second was a ballista. You can see pics of it here.
The image quality is quite lacking. I will take better pics when time permits.
